DEI Update, Library Proposal, Debbie Dingell and more!
We are fortunate that there are many people in Ann Arbor and beyond working to make our community, and this country, a better place to live. We will hear from some of them (including Congresswoman Debbie Dingell!) this Saturday.
Molly Kleinman will speak will speak in favor of the library ballot proposals. Molly Kleinman is the current President of the Library Board. She also serves as the Managing Director of the Science, Technology, and Public Policy program at the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy. Abdul El-Sayed is running for U.S. Senate, and will speak at our May meeting. Abdul is running because life in Michigan shouldn’t be this hard — or this expensive. After a successful career of making government work for Michiganders, he wants to take his vision to Washington and make the United States Senate work for you.
Dr. Robert Sellers will update the community on efforts to advance the University of Michigan's commitment to DEI. Dr. Robert Sellers is the James S. Jackson Distinguished University Professor of Psychology, and Professor of Education.
Professor Young will also speak on the fight to build a more diverse, inclusive and equitable campus. Professor Alford A. Young, Jr. is the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor in the Department of Sociology and a professor of African and African American studies, with a courtesy appointment at the Ford School. He serves as associate director of U-M's Center for Social Solutions and faculty director for scholar engagement and leadership at Michigan's National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID).
